Monrepo
Guest House is situated in Gala junction on Kandy–Colombo
road.
The
Gala name linked up to ancient period where people
used to travel by Bullock Carts and park at this
junction for resting.
"Gala" in
Sinhala language means "The resting place" for
people who travel by bullock carts, where they release
their animals from the carts and make them to rest
over night. Then the people prepare their dinner with
the available minimum facilities. Early morning next
day they start their journey. This system is hardly
used now days with the availability of modern transport
system
"Gala
junction" is the name location where today a
Guest House has come up with modern facilities by the
name, "MONREPO" (Monrepo
is a French word meaning "My Leisure")

Catering the nation for nearly 2 decades Monrepo
has created an impact in the hospitality industry.
Starting
the career as a ferrous & Non Ferrous moulding
pattern maker, qualified at Ceylon technical college
and subsequently worked at port Commission, Ceylon
State hardware corporation, the founder of Monrepo
Mr. Kumarapeli then switched in to the Hospitality
Industry taking up an opportunity at the restaurant
of United Nations Organization in Switzerland.
Also
he worked at the restaurant of International Red Cross
Society, during the career he gained experience by
working at many star class hotels and restaurants and
specialised in many departments. |
